To give customers the freedom to brew whole-bean coffee, delivering uncompromising quality and promoting conscious consumption.
Terra Kaffe is a direct-to-consumer coffee brand which is attempting to disrupt the at-home coffee market with its “bean to cup” machine, which can make cafe-quality espresso-based coffee without the use of coffee pods, or without the bulk or price of a countertop barista machine.
While the pod or capsule model is convenient and often of high quality, concerns about the plastic waste they produce is rising. Though the likes of Nespresso do encourage returning empty pods for recycling, there’s no obligation to do so, and tons of plastic are still produced.
Terra Kaffe has been around since 2018 and has received widespread positive media attention for its more sustainable coffee machines. Although the company has invested heavily in its online presence, it has also made impressive inroads into well-know brick-and-mortar institutions. Its products are now stocked in a number of prestigious stores, such as Nordstroms and Saks 5th Ave.
The company has increased its revenue by offering coffee beans and a range of accessories, but its flagship product remains its machine. Terra Kaffe will need to further invest in outreach in order to compete with heritage players like Nespresso.
