Our take

When a close friend of the founder was sectioned under the Mental Health Act (MHA), he couldn't believe that an emergency care pathway was managed by moving around paper forms. He was further shocked that his friend's access to treatment would be delayed while he waited for a set of forms to be circulated and eventually 'signed off'. Thinking there must be a kinder and more efficient way of assessing and treating an individual in crisis, Arden and Ross decided to found Thalamos.

Thalamos is developed with a combination of focus group research, personal experience, and clinical steering group consultation, harnessing technology to face the digital challenges posed to mental healthcare. Its bespoke software solution builds and deploys software to improve outcomes in the assessment and treatment of Mental Illness. It supports the professional users of clients to coordinate urgent care across organisations and geographies including the NHS, Social care, the cqc, private healthcare providers, and police services. With its software Thalamos eMHA, users can build intuitive joined-up solutions for the complex and disparate medico-legal pathways spanning these organisations as people receiving care move between settings.

The eMHA Mental Health Act workflow software is currently in use in multiple Mental Health trusts in the NHS, across London by the Metropolitan Police, and nationally by the CQC. In 2024 Thalamos is expanding its reach even further, including implementing a Pan-London NHS programme.

Designed by a team of software and medical experts, Thalamos is driven by the goal to support mental healthcare professionals to deliver the best possible care.
