To build a new university that helps prepare students to tackle some of the world's most complex problems
Founded on the belief that the current university system does not cater to the urgent needs of the modern workplace, The London Interdisciplinary School is an alternative higher education provider that is designed to give students the knowledge and skills to enter the workplace, as it exists now.
The key distinguisher from other universities is the emphasis on interdisciplinary problems - from knife crime and childhood obesity to palm oil in supply chains and plastic population - as well harnessing research skills. The university is designed in a way that shares mental models from across boundaries in order to create new modes of understanding and experiencing world, specifically so students can engage with the problems currently faced by humanity.
Academic Lead, Gombrich launched UCL’s Bachelors of Arts and Sciences (BASc) degree, which has seen immense success, meaning tis new venture is in good hands. The model and curriculum will continue to be shaped and evolved, but this is an exciting disruption to the traditional and arguably outdated education model.
