The interview process seemed to be well-designed, and unlike some companies I interviewed at, the expectations at each interview stage was communicated clearly, so I knew what was expected of me. I was assigned a buddy at the start of my onboarding, and I’ve had regular check-ins with my manager. The productivity expectations were ramped up slowly, so I could focus on understanding the core product and organise coffee meetings with immediate colleagues and a few colleagues in the wider business. Everyone has made an effort to make me, as a new team member, feel welcome.

The onboarding process has been meticulously designed, from understanding the async working culture, using the comms/wiki tools to maximum effect, and understanding what the current product and business model looks like. Everyone I asked for onboarding help has responded positively, and my manager was genuinely interested in my feedback on the onboarding process in general.

Everyone is asked to define their working hours in the calendar, and as long as these overlap the core business hours, it's all good. I am fond of working from home in the morning, and a cafe in the afternoon, and since meetings tend to be squashed into mornings, nipping to a communal working space and getting some focus/headphones time is not a struggle at all. As long as you're happy to manage your own diary, and you don't need always-on Slack indicator lights from other people, you'll be fine!

The onboarding was very structured and well-prepared. There was a list in ClickUp covering in detail the first days/weeks/months. Also, I was given enough time to orient around and understand how the company works before diving into actual work.

Autonomy resonates with a "Champion Ownership" value. And this is what is expected in the daily work. Over my time here, I've been able to take the lead over projects and drive them forward, without micromanagement, but with a helping hand and meaningful discussions about the challenging parts whenever needed.

We have a strong 1-1 culture which includes weekly meetings with my direct manager and monthly meetings with my head of department. I am always encouraged to bring topics and voice my honest opinions. 1-1s are team member led which means my topics are always done first to ensure there's enough time to address them.

Our onboarding is best in class and way above what you would expect for a Series B funded scale up. It is very detailed but self-led so that you don't feel overwhelmed. I personally really enjoyed it and can say it was the best I've ever experienced.
