Our take
With Trusted Housesitters, members connect to exchange pet care for a place to stay for one annual fee. It’s a money-free exchange, which creates a more friendship-based arrangement between sitter and host rather than a hired help contractual relationship.
The platform now has over half a million members across 130 countries, posts more than £5m turnover and counts easyJet and SkyScanner among its commercial partners.
The company is tapping into the multi-billion pet services industry as well as the travel market. However, because they offer members the advantage of saving hundreds of pounds on pet care, they don’t work in direct competition with traditional accommodation providers or even AirBNB.
