Our take

Universities are big, complex institutions that can't afford to invest that much time and effort into their websites. At the same time, universities are facing increasing competition to attract students (it's getting more common to consider apprenticeships, coding bootcamps or go straight into work).

Unibuddy makes it easy for universities to connect with more prospective students to drive applications. Its peer-to-peer setup means the operational effort for the company is low, as current students answer the questions.

Unibuddy has firm goals in mind - partnering up with more institutions internationally to empower more students, grow the size of the company, expand its product range, and above all, Unibuddy wants to be an all-in-one platform - taking care of everything from selecting a programme, to onboarding to post-graduation.

Leadership

They previously founded StudentView. They worked as a Software Engineer at Schlumberger for 2.5 years before going to Entrepreneur First.

They founded Unibuddy straight after completing their Masters degree at Imperial, with the idea born out of their own frustration in trying to find the right university.

People progressing

Joined the company as a Software Engineer, before being promoted to Engineering Manager 2 years later.

Amy recently celebrated her 5-year buddyversary. In that time she's progressed from a Customer Success Manager to Director of Customer Success for the EMEA, APAC & Canada region managing a great team.

Diversity, Equity & Inclusion at Unibuddy

  • Diversity. Equity. Inclusion. They’re more than just words for Buddies. They’re the hard-and-fast principles guiding our team-building methods. It’s how we cultivate leaders and forge a company and community that’s the right fit for every person inside of it.
  • We have a global, multicultural foundation—and we want to see it reflected across our employee landscape. It’s what helps us grow and support the peer-to-peer platform that serves one and all.
  • As we continue to grow our team of Buddies during this exciting time, we’ll experiment with hiring in communities all across the globe, taking our diversity and inclusion recruiting goals to new heights.
  • We're continuing to provide spaces for our Buddies to learn and have open conversations around a range of topics, with unconscious bias workshops, mental health first aid training and panel sessions on lived experiences of discrimination all born out of DEI initiatives this year.
