To make the internet safer for everyone by automatically detecting harmful content.
5 billion hours of video are played online every day and this number is growing fast. This has resulted in an explosion of harmful content, which is damaging the reputation of content platforms.
Most video platforms still rely on armies of human moderators or outdated AI tools that struggle to understand nuance and context. Unitary, by focusing exclusively on video and using multimodal AI (combining visuals, audio and text) has developed some of the most advanced content moderation tech in the field.
Since raising significant funding in 2023, Unitary has grown rapidly now moderating over 6M videos daily across multiple languages. Its next challenge is building this technology into flexible workflow-friendly products for content moderation teams.
While big tech players like Hoogle and AWS have stumbled when it comes to context-sensitive AI moderation, Unitary's rcent progress shows strong potential, but at scale, the complexity till remains high. Whether it can fully solve this industry-wide problem is still to be seen, but it's clsoer than most.
