To develop video understanding AI and deploy it at scale to solve real-world problems in content moderation and beyond.
5 billion hours of video are played online every day and this number is growing fast. This has resulted in an explosion of harmful content, which is damaging the reputation of content platforms.
Currently, platforms hosting video content are reliant on either armies of human moderators or not fit for purpose A.I. tools that fail to recognise context. In focusing just on video content and combining computer vision with a mathematical model of context, Unitary has created cutting-edge technology for this field.
The company now needs to build its technology into a product that can fit seamlessly into the workflows of moderation teams on the dozens of video-hosting platforms that they hope will become clients.
While Unitary has made significant strides, previous efforts in content moderation A.I by Google and AWS have become unstuck in meeting the intricate problem of recognising and triaging different varieties of toxicity all while recognising appropriate context. It is yet to be proven that Unitary will be successful where these efforts have failed.
