Our take

UnlikelyAI is startup setting out to use Artificial Intelligence to solve challenges previously considered impossible for computers, in order to advance the state-of-the-art technology further.

It is an early stage company and most of what they are working is yet to be released. Their first product is Crossword Genius - an app that uses AI and machine vision to solve cryptic crosswords.

The company has raised a large sum of money, most recently in an oversubcribed 2022 seed round, and is backed by an experienced founder- William Tunstall-Pedoe- who was heavily involved with the development and release of Amazon Alexa. UnlikelyAI believes that AI has the potential to shape the modern world, thus they aim to continue to find bigger applications of AI in different contexts in the future.
