Our take

Every year, mental health gets pushed further and further into the spotlight. Unmind is a B2B mental health platform, empowering organisations and employees to measurably improve their mental health.

Once partnered, an organisation’s entire workforce gets 24/7 access to Unmind’s tools, training and assessments which are available on mobile devices and desktop. The company's proactive approach, based on its tech-enabled accessibility, is its key differentiator from traditional methods of therapy.

Unmind, which is available to over 2M employees around the globe, works with leading companies including Sainsbury's, Uber, British Airways, Virgin Media, John Lewis, and the NHS. As more organisations prioritise the mental health of their employees, coupled with more investments following a round of 2021 series B funding, the number of its clients is only growing, and it has started to acquire its own portfolio of companies including Frakie Health.

Diversity, Equity & Inclusion at Unmind

  • At Unmind, we believe in uniting behind uniqueness. Our differences are what unite us as humans, so we seek out diverse opinions, beliefs, and experiences because they collectively make us stronger
  • As we scale the business, we’re focussing on evolving our hiring practices to help remove biases and ensure a fair and consistent process for all candidates. Here are some of the initiatives we’ve kicked off so far:
  • We’ve signed up to the Government’s Kickstart Scheme, which helps 16 to 24-years-olds on universal credit get back to work
  • We’re forming partnerships with different companies and communities such as Prospect 100, YSYS, diversifying.io, who are devoted to nurturing the talent of the future
  • Focussing on 'culture addition' rather than 'culture fit' is also key to building an inclusive culture. To do this we’re introducing scorecards to help remove bias and ensure a fair and consistent hiring process
  • In our job descriptions, we’ve reduced our 'essential' requirements to focus on 'must-haves', a small detail that studies have shown improves application rates
  • We also recently launched our internal 'Understanding our uniqueness survey' which will empower us with the qualitative and quantitative data to understand the demographic of our teams, and how each unique Unminder experiences our culture and ways of working. The survey will also help us identify our areas of opportunity and where to focus our future D&I initiatives, which will continue to be a focus in 2022 and beyond
