Company mission

To help the 'always on' switch off

Our take

A study by IBC research in 2013 discovered that 80% of people check their phones as soon as they wake up in the morning. About 59% of people check their emails on weekends and holiday, exemplifying the worldwide aversion to digital detoxing.

Unplugged is a holiday service and rental company that provides rural luxury cabins completely disconnected from the internet. Alongside beautiful interior design, the cabins also include a lock box for your tech, a replacement Nokia flip phone for emergencies, an instant camera, books, and (analog) games. Cabins are usually located an hour outside of major cities and are available for individual or group bookings, making it an ideal team retreat for companies. Unplugged locations are dotted across the countryside near Manchester, Brighton, Birmingham, Liverpool, London, and Bristol.

A simple idea done well goes a long way and Unplugged benefit from partnerships with modular home builders U-Build and Nokia. In a world where it’s incredibly hard to switch off, Unplugged’s mission will speak to many, if it can expand its presence out from the UK.
