Domain names have been purchased by web creators since the dawn of the internet to give their website a unique access address, but this unique address is often temporary. Creators value permanence and want to guarantee true ownership of a domain or digital identity, yet ever-increasing renewal fees often get in the way of ensuring this.
Unstoppable Domains sells decentralized web domains and digital identity addresses, allowing its customers to purchase a digital identity at a fixed cost without any renewal fees. The NFT domains use blockchain technology to authenticate ownership and can be applied to regular websites, usernames, cryptocurrency wallet addresses, and custom applications.
Whilst the value of NFTs is uncertain and furiously debated, Unstoppable Domains have taken a unique stance by focussing on applying the technology to domain names, something that is tangible and is already deeply embedded within the internet. By approaching this gap in the market, the company demonstrates a promising application for NFTs whilst providing its customers with a convenient, permanent, and renewal-free method of linking people to online identities.
