To help people rebuild life after loss.
80% female employees
Untangle was started after the founders discovered the lack of support for grief after losing loved ones. Its platform and app make it easier to get emotional and practical aid to help people feel in control and supported.
As well as the challenge of dealing with the death of a loved one, such losses come with secondary ones, including damage to finances, relationships, and mental/physical health. Untangle offers users the tools for practical tasks, including finding therapists, writing wills, and managing bills, as well as wellbeing and mental health support.
Untangle creates personalised guides to help users handle the administrative process after a loss, as well as providing an email support service, and an app with instant messaging for giving personal advice and support. Fundamentally, Untangle operates like a social media network for grievers.
As well as emotional and practical support, Untangle has a community aspect. By connecting fellow grievers with an algorithm, people are welcomed into group chats where an Untangle admin prompts conversations and helps build relationships.

We're venturing into a land unknown - a single platform aimed at helping people cope with all the practical and emotional aspects of grief. We have a unique problem on our hands. Given this, we have to answer questions that often can't be answered with a quick Google search or a coffee with someone from another startup. It really feels like we have to go beyond copying and truly innovate. Couple that with ambitious targets and you have exciting, challenging work every single day. If you like a challenge this is the place to be!

You'd be hard-pressed to find more meaningful work. Everyone dies and so everyone experiences grief. Yet, the world doesn't really stop for grievers. The support systems are completely inadequate. All this leaves grievers overwhelmed by a long list of complex tasks and hard emotions that they're expected to deal with alone. We're here to change this. And every single day, our customers reach out and tell us how impactful our work has been on their life. And without fail, I get goosebumps when I read those messages.

From a product point of view, this is a challenging, but magical, site to work on. So much of what we do is about human behaviour in all its messy and complex glory, to achieve an aim of bringing people together to process their loss and - ultimately - feel less alone.
