Our take
Social media can be a fantastic means for people to engage with friends and family online, regardless of their location. However, whilst such platforms make it easier to stay in touch with existing connections, it can be difficult for users to connect with new people nearby, showing demand for a more hyper-local alternative.
VYBZ App provides a hyper-local social network, with the focus of helping users to discover new friends in new places. The company has focussed on providing its services to student halls and popular venues, allowing users to chat, share digital content, and ultimately connect both online and offline.
Whilst it is undeniable that competition from popular hyper-local social media platforms such as NextDoor will be fierce, VYBZ App has identified that such apps are designed to connect neighborhood circles, focusing instead on specific student accommodations and events. Through this approach, the company shows great potential to fill the gap in the market of hyper-local youth-focused social media, helping to connect nearby users with friends they otherwise may not have made.
