VenueScanner has taken a different approach to the events market by focusing on helping venue owners make better use of the space they own. Many events spaces are under-utilised, so there's a big opportunity for any company that can increase the occupancy rate.
They've had a big push to improve their UX, which has helped propel them to successfully scale across the UK to cities in every region, generating tens of thousands of booking requests and delivering over £25m in event value every month. On the other side of the marketplace, there are a range of companies using the service to host events in the venues listed on the platform, including big brands like Nike, Meta, BBC and the NHS.
The company earns money by charging venue owners to publicise on their platform. VenueScanner also provides management and communication solutions and insights to the venue owners through its platform. This is a very defensible revenue-stream as it's not easy to access and manage the spaces they have listed without going through the platform.
