Our take
While crypto markets have been a major focus of development in the tech sector for years, the financial sector has struggled to find ways to get involved. Trust and compliance issues mean that it has traditionally been difficult to bring crypto products to traditional markets. Focused on the Nordics, Vinter is a startup which uses its expertise to index crypto assets, making it possible for companies to create exchange traded funds (ETFs) that can be listed and traded in global stock exchanges.
Vinter plays a unique role in an emerging market as a bridge between crypto assets and the traditional finance sector. With European Securities and Markets Authority (ESMA) approval, it is trusted by financial institutions to provide reliable indexes to underly their financial products and provide benchmarks in trading operations.
Vinter recently closed a seed funding round led by Octopus Ventures. It will invest this capital in hiring new talent, particularly data analysts, backend developers and engineers. It has recently partnered with Valour to launch its multi-crypto ETF on the Frankfurt Stock Exchange and will be looking to expand its marketing reach to other tech companies hoping to bring crypto ETF products to market.
