Volograms' mission is to bring reality capture closer to everyone, making content creation for AR and VR as simple as recording a video.

Our take

The idea that Virtual Reality (VR) and Augmented Reality (AR) are the future of technology has existed for decades, yet the progression of the field has been challenging. One of the main reasons for this is that producing content for VR and AR is difficult and requires a vast understanding of computer graphics and computer science, making content creation inaccessible to most people.

Volograms develops software tools that facilitate simple 3D content creation for AR and VR through volumetric video, a process that allows users to scan video footage and use it in 3D environments. The company provides its services as a smartphone application for mobile content creators, in addition to as an advanced cloud-based production studio for VFX pipelines. This is ultimately achieved through its cloud-based technology, a setup that provides the necessary processing power to users when it otherwise would be unavailable.

Volumetric video is not a new concept, but Volograms is showing great potential in rapidly innovating the technology by making it accessible to VFX teams and social media content creators alike.
