Their mission is to enable everyone to live in the home they want to.
Like a number of other proptech companies, such as Strideup and Proportunity, Wayhome are attempting to solve the difficulty first time buyers face trying to get on the housing ladder.
If people rent, they often cannot save the large deposit required for a mortgage. It is this “vicious circle” that Wayhome want to break: by helping families that can afford to rent gradually buy a home.
Wayhome will use institutional funding to finance its part of the homes it purchases. These investors like exposure to residential property, and the secure income stream it brings, but don’t want to be landlords.

Lots of scope for flexibility with remote first hiring and ability to work with your manager to work out what works best for you and the company. As long as I get my job done I've got flexibility eg. some people go to collect their kids during the day and some people start later/earlier based on what works for them

There's space for everyone with our CEO to feedback. But also in all parts of the company there's scope for feeding back and being heard. From being junior in the company I was listened to early on and now I've progressed I continue to be acknowledged

My opinions are valued

My expertise, input and impact are all valued at Wayhome without a second thought. It's just what they do here. Working here has been very exciting for me especially as I've had the opportunity to come in and build two Operational sides of the business (Customer On Boarding/ Living Customer Retention) from scratch. I've felt supported, connected to the mission and grounded along the way. I have a very customer-first attitude and they recognised that was lacking early on and so they sought out people that could deliver on that and help them excel. I've also always felt that Wayhome understands that to create incredible things you need to find the right people and pay them fairly to make that happen.

From the get-go I was able to be open and honest with my manager (and co-founder) about where I was at with my mental health and what that meant I needed to be successful and happy at work. For me that meant weekly therapy sessions, daily space for meditation in the mornings and encouragement to focus on my health when I needed it. It also means (initially due to Covid anxiety and now due to practicality) that working in the office regularly wouldn't be an option for me. Because I was able to have this open conversation up front before accepting the offer, I had reassurance that my needs would be considered from day one. My boss was open about their own mental health struggles and that helped me to feel comfortable with my own. Since then, and I've been with Wayhome for almost 2 years now, they have not wavered in their efforts to care for their staff. They've supported me in creating initiatives for remote workers, run regular social activities for us too and my attending therapy during typical work hours has never been an issue.

Having worked in the Property industry for a decade now, honesty isn't something that is always valued. This is a huge shame, because when you can find yourself in an open environment, like here at Wayhome, magical things happen. From the get-go one of the reasons I wanted to join the business is that Transparency was a core value. I have found that to run true throughout my time here. We have monthly All Hands meetings where there's clarity on everything from each part of the business (marketing, sales, tech, investment...) as well as at a high level how much runway we have and how our customers feel. At a departmental level this happens both daily (with stand ups to talk about challenges and focuses) and weekly (with a quick look at what's gone well and what's coming up in the week ahead). In addition to this, we use Slack to communicate and there are channels for things at a high or granular level. Updates channel is a place for big or exciting news from each department or from the exec team. It helps us all stay aligned. Because whatever your role here at Wayhome you'll need to work cross-functionally they've really considered all the ways in which transparency can support that.

Roles are remote first and also flexible in terms of being in person in the office. Hours can be set accordingly but need to be within reasonable core hours. Was allowed to work anywhere in the world remotely but that depends on which department you work in.
