When Then's mission is to simplify and increase online payments for businesses all types and sizes.
WhenThen is at the apex of two trends: the emerging acceptance of no-code tools amongst even large enterprises, and the digital revolution happening in payments, led by companies like Stripe.
WhenThen’s founders realised that when businesses start to integrate different payment methods, gateways and pathways, their payments infrastructure gets very, very complex. WhenThen’s software fixes all of that without requiring engineering expertise.
Crucially, the startup is providing end-to-end payment solutions, rather than simply optimising payment intent or payout infrastructure.
The large technology providers in the payments space are likely to seek vertical integration of payment flows in order to themselves provide a more complete service. To that extent, WhenThen faces a degree of platform risk that could be difficult to combat, and so this will be a key point to keep an eye on as the company develops.
