Our take
There has been a surge in online learning in recent years and likewise Winc Academy face tough competition from Coursera, Babble, A Cloud Guru, Growth Tribe and many others. Winc Academy is aiming to prepare 20,000 adults for a job as a programmer, data analyst, or other tech careers within a few years.
Employing an in-your-own-time and on-your-own-terms method, students attend online courses from home, and the company points to an active community and personal guidance acting as the value-add hook.
These courses vary in duration, anywhere from a few weeks to a half a year, cost on average in the neighbourhood of €2,500, and the average student age hovering around 35. It’s this age factor that clearly indicates that Winc Academy is focusing on a retraining/up-skilling methodology, rather than starting from (almost) scratch with green faces.
