Woov's mission is to make live music experiences accessible to everyone.
The past few years sparked an appetite for virtual events in the live music industry that looks set to stick around, and Woov are one of the startups hoping to cater to it. Their social platform helps music fans connect to each other and to recommended events, much like Resident Advisor. Their B2C platform allows events to set up mobile ordering, event insights, access marketing tools, and timetabling features. But their biggest sell is the Woov Live app, which virtually ‘places’ users at live event streamings, with responsive spatial positioning that allows them to meet and chat with other attendees during the stream.
It doesn’t, however, seem a given that this spatial positioning feature will be a hit. Live-streams have surged in popularity over recent years, and it’s not at all clear that the audio disruption of in-stream chatting will add extra value to the experience. Whilst it's certainly an exciting innovation, it’s also a plus that Woov appear to be hedging their bets across this live-stream app and their more conventional event management and booking offerings.
All the same, the app has yet to launch, and in an industry that is seeing significant changes in consumer habits it may well prove the radical technological disruption that they promise.
