We have a very open and transparent culture around communication at Workbounce. Leadership never leaves anyone in the dark as to how the company is doing, or if we have any important initiatives coming up. There aren't silos like you see even at some other small tech companies.

We also have a focus on trust for all employees. If someone needs to take a day for themselves, we encourage them to take it. We won't pry, and I feel like I never have to lie about anything (like saying you're "sick" and need a sick day when it's really for mental health reasons, for instance).

We do of course have officers to lead the company, but otherwise have a very flat hierarchy. It's not an instance where you might have a "Director Director VP of Sales" who reports to the "Senior Extra Director of Sales." Each department does roll into a leader (officer) but otherwise is entrusted to get out there and get our work done.
