Xploro was created when the founder’s daughter developed bone cancer and discovered most of the information and guidance on child cancers is aimed at adults, rather than the patients themselves. Research shows a happier and more informed patient makes a swifter and fuller recovery, this benefits both the patient’s mental and physical health.
The company's platform uses artificial intelligence, augmented reality, and gamification to teach young cancer patients about their condition, enabling them to ‘meet’ the people who’ll be treating them and ask questions about their treatment to minimize anxiety about the disease and make receiving care a more comfortable and relaxing experience.
Xploro is designed to put young patients at the centre of communication about their condition, going against the grain of the medical profession who focus on parentally bias information.
The company moved its headquarters from Manchester, UK to Cleveland, Ohio in the US in early 2023 after completing its first investment round. Now that the company has gotten a jump on its expansion efforts, it is aiming to expand its platform to provide health information for patients of all ages and conditions across the globe.
