To offer a global program to help schools, musical artists, comedians, businesses, and individuals eliminate the distraction and intrusion of smartphones and other personal technology.
Yondr is offering a unique solution to managing phone use in schools and other venues. It wants to create distraction-free environments by locking phones in neoprene pouches.
The company started by providing a solution for controlling phone use in entertainment venues, with high-profile clients like Dave Chappelle and Guns N' Roses. Over time, it has found its way into schools, where it's now employed in over 50 states and 35 countries.
With the introduction of its pouches to schools, the reception has been mixed. While many schools report improvements in student engagement and a more positive culture, not everyone agrees that the pouches are the best solution (particularly the kids).
Despite this, the company continues to grow, with a notable shift toward educational institutions, which now make up around 70% of Yondr's business. The company has a challenge ahead of itself, however, it's a prime example of how technology can be leveraged in the quest for distraction-free environments.
