Juno's mission is to equip all women and non-binary people with the knowledge to navigate this patriarchal, mythically-meritocratic society. In short, Juno wants to get more money into the hands of women and non-binary people!
Financial literacy is one of the most important things to learn for those looking to take control of their finances. However, in recent years it has become more apparent that women and non-binary people are encouraged far less than men to become financially literate and independent. For example, in an analysis of financial media articles by Starling, a whopping 73 percent of articles targeting men spoke about investing while 90 percent of the articles targeting women focused on spending less. Juno believes that these kinds of statistics are evidence of a financial system which is biased against women and non-binary people, and this is something Juno wants to fix.
Juno's platform is a financial education platform for women and non-binary people. The courses on its app are run by money experts representative of women and non-binary people, and cover a range of topics including buying property, saving for retirement, and investing. Juno is thus offering a real, practical way to empower its users in novel and truly informative ways.
The sceptic, of course, might argue that platforms offering financial advice are nothing new, with platforms such as Fintuity offering similar app-based services, and with a wealth of advice existing in various forms online and offline for those willing to look for it. Crucial to Juno's success, then, will be its ability to attract the potential consumers that the current financial advice market has failed to engage.
