Calculating the risk of a driver is essential in offering customers realistic insurance pricing, but understanding the risk of every individual is difficult. Whilst past insurance claims and demographics such as new drivers will always be considered, there is far more driving data that could be collected to provide more actionable mobility risk signals.

Zendrive provides data-driven mobility insights for insurance providers, data which is provided by using the smartphones of drivers as a sensor to recognize safe or dangerous driving. The app provides personalized coaching to drivers to help them earn discounts on their insurance, and collected data can be used to provide fairer insurance, shorten claim cycles, and reduce claim expenses.

Whilst some startups are already providing driving safety analytics for commercial fleets, Zendrive has recognized that a similar solution must be provided to make insurance pricing fairer to consumers. By recognizing safe driving, collisions, and other driving data insights, the company claims it can reduce insurance costs for safe drivers, identify risky drivers, and make the roads safer through its training functionality.
