The last few years saw a surge in UK pet ownership, with one third of households now owning dogs. This has meant a boom in business for sitters, walkers, and trainers - but for owners who aren’t able to splash out on a professional trainer, puppy training apps like Zigzag have proven crucial.
With Zigzag, dog owners are given 3-5 daily exercises tailored to the dog’s breed and age, supplemented with context and tips, and supported by various helpline contacts. This distinguishes them from competitors like GoodPup, who offer video sessions, and more general pet care apps like Pup to Date that also track things like medication and schedules. There remains, however, a number of similar self-directed training course material apps vying for pole position.
Direct competitors like Puppr and Pupford are run by trainers with strong existing reputations in the industry - which may mean Zigzag needs to work harder to find a customer hook. However, the founding team brings substantial experience in enterprise petcare companies, which is likely to offer the company a similar degree of industry expertise from a distinctive angle.
