To save fresh fruit and vegetables from being wasted.
Food waste is an immense and growing problem: up to 40% of all food produced is thrown away, much of it for aesthetic reasons. afreshed sees a solution: what if this food could be saved before it reaches the bin or the biogas plant, and brought to the dinner table?
Afreshed operates in Austria, a country known for its focus on sustainable farming. It has carved out a niche with its relationships with farmers - prioritising a fair price for organic food - and its understanding of local logistics, allowing rapid and reliable delivery to customers in its service area. It is clearly doing well, with a large number of customers who have been leaving glowing reviews for their service and quality.
The company secured funding from investors in the TV show "2Minuten2Millionen", following in the path of Oddbox, a successful British startup in the same field. It is aiming to further develop its zero-waste concept and expand the business by hiring new talent.
