Our take

Electric Vehicles (EVs) have reached a quality threshold suitable for millions of people, but they remain impossibly expensive for many. Elmo is designed to remove the cost and complexity of switching to an EV. Elmo provides electric vehicles on low-cost and flexible monthly subscriptions with all services - charging, energy, insurance, maintenance, breakdown and even a carbon offset donation - included in the price. There isn't any cost for users’ cars outside the single payment they make to Elmo each month.

The company was selected by Tech Nation as one of 30 of the UK's most promising scale-up companies in the UK tackling climate change. It's growing rapidly to respond to a boom in demand for its flexible subscription service as consumer needs change, attracting investment and awards.

By providing people easier access to electric cars through its flexible subscriptions, Elmo could be key in supporting the growth of clean transport in the country.
