Our take
People around the world are beginning to switch from diesel and petrol to electric vehicles. However, charging stations can be scarce and it is often difficult to find out which stations nearby are available, which can be risky for electric vehicle owners and ultimately prevents many people from making the switch.
Elvah provides a mobile app for locating electric vehicle charge points, leveraging live data driven by community feedback to help users find suitable stations. The service is integrated within the charging stations it provides and operates based on a monthly energy subscription, also giving users the option to get e-car breakdown assistance and onward travel insurance.
While the number of electric vehicle charging points across the world is increasing rapidly every day, Elvah has been wise to identify that the problem is often not just finding one, but finding a suitable one. Acquired by E.ON in 2023, the company plans to "further develop the platform and make charging e-cars even easier and more reliable."
