Our take
iMerit is a company specializing in data annotation and labeling for the purposes of AI training. iMerit's work of data labeling is the foundation to accurate AI, enabling AI systems around the world to identify whatever it is they're looking for, including medical abnormalities, data abnormalities, or even illegal materials.
The company charges AI teams set rates for annotating large amounts of data; in most cases, these data sets will comprise millions of images which makes iMerit's services essential to AI companies who usually don't have large data-entry teams working in-house. iMerit is big enough to offer fast, efficient data annotation even for those data sets which require careful human judgment or professional expertise.
iMerit is not the only company operating in this market; competitors like CloudFactory and Figure Eight offer a similar service. However, neither company boasts the scale of employees that iMerit has, making them ill-suited to larger data annotation projects. iMerit's biggest challenge could come in the next decade if we reach a point when enough data has already been annotated that data annotation work like this is simply not needed on the same scale.
