To break down the barriers that previously prevented fans from engaging with famous personalities.
300% employee growth in 12 months
Connecting with celebrities has interested the general public since the concept of a 'celebrity' first appeared. Historically, however, such connections have always been hindered by two key factors: celebrities cannot be everywhere, so it is often difficult to meet them, and meeting a celebrity is rarely a personalised experience, leaving many feeling unsatisfied. Through memmo's marketplace for personalised video messages from celebrities, they are hoping to circumvent these two issues and give celebrities a platform through which they can directly interact with their fans.
Key competition comes from US-based Cameo, which offers similar services but with a greater focus on US celebrities. Memmo is thus banking on the same trends as in the US operating equally well in Europe. However, a key advantage of its online platform is that memmo can work anywhere; hence, the company is currently operating localized marketplaces for Sweden, Germany, Finland, Norway, the United Kingdom, Spain, Italy and Canada, as well as a general global market.
The demand for such services is clearly there - in the past year, memmo saw sales grow by 50% every month. This impressive growth enabled memmo to attract significant funding, which they plan to use to add new features like live videos, and to expand their existing services, especially those which connect celebrities with business clients. Memmo is confident that demand for its services will continue long into the future, especially as the platform gains traction within the market and more mainstream celebrity partnerships; it already plans to expand its footprint into the Indian market.
