Company mission

To help power growth for a new generation of businesses across Africa.

Our take

Africa has been at the forefront of payment innovation for the last decade and the e-payments market on the continent is set to reach $40 billion dollars by 2025. Whilst crypto and digital currencies in African countries are gaining pace, cash is still trailing ahead, and digital exchange businesses have become increasingly significant for its economy.

Paystack’s services focus on helping African businesses gain a foothold off of the continent, delivering and helping them navigate secure payment channels that weed out fraud and cybercrime. The company has so far helped transfer the payments of 70,000 businesses across the continent and was acquired by Stripe in 2020 at a price of $200 million.

As exemplified by its acquisition, Paystack’s services are an important indicator of the evolving shape of African business ventures. Paystack plays a vital role in shaping the economy of the continent through partnerships and is setting an ethical, encouraging precedent for similar businesses to come.
