To provide customers with one single app to ride them all.
Dutch startup umob wants to make shared mobility more accessible and easy to use. Whilst rideshare apps such as Uber and Bolt are now widely available and can be downloaded just as easily as umob, the startup uniquely unifies all of your personal accounts and information concerning transport apps.
Working in a similar way to Apple Pay for ridesharing, private and government funded transport rentals are all unified onto the umob app. The company is an attractive proposition for travellers who might otherwise have to download several apps to get around in a new city, thus making sustainable travel easier to access.
Umob launched its app in Rotterdam in 2023 but off the back of 6 million euros in seed funding, it plans to expand its network across Europe. It also wants to work with municipalities to integrate shared mobility solutions into cities and towns. For such a young app, the proof will be in the pudding as the company scales up. There are few competitors in the space but umob will have to rally up partnerships with large and small companies alike to achieve its Europe-wide network.
