AutoScout24 is an online classifieds platform for new and used vehicles that’s been expanding its reach across 10 European markets for over two decades now. This period, however, offers a unique opportunity for growth - and AutoScout24 appears to be taking full advantage.
Both the new and used cars markets saw a big kick recently, as semiconductor shortages hobbled production lines and backlogs saw consumers opting for used vehicles instead. This meant big movement on the AutoScout24 platform, and the company’s used that to renovate its offering.
Now, it’s added both Smyle - a separate digital service through which AutoScout24 will sell used cars directly, instead of listing classifieds - and Autoproff - a B2B car sales platform in which AutoScout24 bought a majority stake just recently.
This diversification of business interests will help AutoScout24 cement a stronger position for itself as the European vehicle markets, especially for used cars, begin to cool off. With newer competitors like Carvago and Driverama championing a firmly tech-first approach, this kind of agility seems increasingly necessary.
