Our take

General Assembly is building a classroom-to-career pipeline, with the aim of empowering people to pursue work that they love. At the same time, it wants to be seen as an innovation in hiring and upskilling and be recognised as helping to diversify the digital workforce.

It offers a long list of courses for in-demand skills such as coding, UX and design, marketing, and product management. The market for these courses has grown substantially (around 10x) since GA launched, and large companies like IBM and L'Oréal hire it's alumni.

Now owned by staffing giant Adecco, GA will have all the resources it needs to continue to grow. The test will be to make sure it continues to innovate under new ownership.
