Something Mast does which gives me a sense of accomplishment and motivation is that, whenever I've done an especially good job of something, or had a good idea, I can expect it to be recognised by the rest of the team and rewarded. On the flipside, since joining the team, we've quickly built up mutual trust through an emphasis on honesty — which allows me to feel able to be open about when I am struggling to make progress or find a solution, and to ask for help, because it's normal for output to vary.

Productively challenging other people's ideas; taking initiative to propose new ways of doing stuff (from technical decisions to company-level processes); questioning the status quo; having a hand in design; expanding the bounds of my role — these are all things I have felt encouraged to do. I value autonomy in my work, and Mast actively promotes that.

The best thing about Mast is getting to work with such lovely people. Friendly, considerate, down-to-earth, and smart. The atmosphere's informal but hard-working, with emotional intelligence in abundance.

Mast is disrupting a legacy industry dominated by slow-moving enterprise software. In 18 months we've closed our first commercial agreement, received critical acclaim and press coverage from industry insiders, and deployed features that our competitors are still years away from having.

Mast is small but moving quickly. We're growing our team, rapidly iterating on new features, taking on funding and onboarding new clients. It's a challenge, but it's an exciting time to be here.

We're building a cloud-native mortgage system, and we beat the competition by doing things right and moving quickly – scoping features from first principles, having engineering and product work closely together, using CI/CD and pushing to production multiple times per week.

We don't overwork ourselves and set clear expectations for clients. We don't promise the world then work night and day to make it happen, but instead are transparent with what we can achieve and let clients help us prioritise. We believe that it's also better to do something well once and take our time, rather than having to redo it to fix mistakes.

You are expected to stay home if you're unwell. If you don't feel like coming to the office you don't have to. We're relaxed about taking time off and focus more on output than time in front of a laptop.

We're such a young company that the opportunities are endless. We have to be very collaborative so you can get involved (and will need to) with many different parts of the business.
