Our take
Sunroom Rentals is a mobile-first digital marketplace that was created to help busy estate agents optimise their efficiency. It allows prospective renters to view and lease Austin properties virtually, and helps property owners and managers to boost their profitability.
The founding team saw success with their previous delivery app Favor, and are applying a similar start-local strategy with which they hope to expand across Texas in future. The approach appears to have won them strong uptake in Austin, with leasing speeds reportedly 5x faster than the market average, and good 2021 investment numbers.
Sunroom is well-positioned, too, to take advantage of the increasing attention paid to Austin by the tech industry and VCs, with many startups and tech workers moving to the Texan city. It is a market with plenty of competitors, like Abodo, Rently, and Tour24, but many have limited geographic reach meaning there is much still to play for.

Ben Doherty
(CEO)After graduating with a degree in Civil Engineering from California Polytechnic State University, Ben co-founded Favor, a delivery app for anything from lunch to groceries at home. Before co-founding Sunroom Rentals, they were an Angel Investor for nine companies, including Ruckit and Doorvest.
Zac Maurais
(President)After graduating with a Marketing and Marketing Management degree from Coastal Carolina University, Zac co-founded Favor with Ben. Zac also became an Angel investor and invested in several companies, including Wheel and NuBrakes.
