Who you are

This role is ideal for someone with strong foundational creative skills who is excited to grow within a fast-paced combination agency/publisher environment
4+ years experience as a creative, copywriter, editor or strategist at a publisher, creative agency, or similar
Concept, develop and pitch campaigns aligned to client goals that fit within a specific cultural lens and make sense within a given product set
Utilize provided data and client creative strategy/platforms to inform creative decision making
Translate top-line ideas into detailed strategy-led and/or creative-led campaigns
Propose content launches strategies and campaign rollouts
Justify campaign ideas and build creative arguments through research, data, and insights
Use past campaign performance to inform new ideas
Pitch ideas in an easy-to-understand and compelling way, both written and verbally to both internal and external stakeholders
Experience working cross-functionally across sales, account, and production teams, prioritizing deliverables and deadlines
In-depth understanding of the HYPEBEAST brand as well as the landscape of contemporary youth culture, including but not limited to: fashion, art, design, music, sports
Proficient in Keynote and have experience with Adobe design suite

What the job involves

We’re looking for a Creative Strategist (or a Mid-Level Creative) to join the US Creative Team in the end-to-end ideation and production of branded and white-label content, events and campaigns for our brand partners
Working with a team of creatives, designers and writers, the role is integral to developing ideas, pitching them, and bringing them to life
Understand Hypebeast’s platform and products, and use that knowledge to develop ideas and build campaigns that use our brand’s cultural acumen to produce content and experiences that exceed client expectations
Work across creative, production, editorial, sales and account management teams to build campaigns, ensuring all content deliverables align with the HYPEBEAST mission, client objectives, and budget
Write and structure pitch decks, creative briefs, and narratives that clearly communicate the campaign strategy and creative approach
Utilize data, insights, research and past campaign performance to inform new and updated strategies
Identify creative white space across platforms and recommend formats, rollouts, or partnership models that feel ownable to the brand
Mentor junior talent by offering direction, feedback, and collaborative guidance during concept development
Proactively pitch new opportunities for brand innovation, both internally and in response to client briefs
Ideate new and innovative ways to rollout content and get eyes on our work
Analyze content opportunities across platforms and competitors and recommend strategies, interactions or approaches
Focus on team and organizational needs - creating proactive opportunities to improve team communication and creativity
Communicate clearly with internal teams on project objectives and deliverables

Our take

Founded in 2005 as a hobbyist men's fashion blog, Hypebeast has today exploded into an editorial and eCommerce empire with several major media outlets aimed at different market segments, a commerce branch with an online and high street presence, and a creative production agency for talent working in fashion and other areas. Considered to be an influential authority on street fashion and culture, it has amassed an audience of over 16 million unique viewers per month, mostly among men aged 18-35.

Hypebeast is named after the street fashion style emphasising heavy branding, which has been on something of a downturn lately. Men are beginning to turn towards more subdued and luxe basics (an example of this trend is the recent global decline in sneaker sales compared to loafers). While this may in the short term impact Hypebeast's eCommerce offerings, its editorial team is pivoting to remain ahead of trends and maintain Hypebeast's influence on fashion culture.

As a trend leader, Hypebeast is continually expanding into new markets. Having established media outlets for women's and Asian fashion, it has recently moved into sports and even coffee, having opened a café in its flagship clothing shop in Hong Kong. Most recently it launched in Latin America with a Spanish-language and regionally curated offering. In the long term, it will continue to expand its presence in this market and seek to grow globally.
