Role
Who you are
- Strong computer skills, understanding and basic use of computer programming languages
- Be a passionate advocate for the QA department, able to articulate the benefit and need for robust Automation Testing
- Strong communication skills with all the key stakeholders to ensure QA processes are understood and implemented correctly

What the job involves
- Work with the Head of QA and Automation Lead to determine our automation testing next steps
- Support definition of principles, guidelines and best practices for Testing
- Plan and create automated test scripts using Selenium and C#
- Work with the Automation Lead and Automation Team to determine what tests can be automated
- Work with respective automation framework(s), integrated into the CICD pipeline
- Test design, adapt and implement them into automated tests with minimal coverage loss
- Understand and follow standards for programming tools, techniques and advising on their application to other members of the team
- Code, configure, implement, maintain frameworks, automated scripts, test stubs, drivers, test harnesses and data generation in accordance to the highest standards
- Demonstrate problem solving abilities using test scripts, diagnostic tools, technical manuals and system documentation to identify, debug, diagnose, report and fix errors
- Be recognized as an expert of key technologies e.g. automation, scripting, develops within the team
- Demonstrate problem solving abilities for complex problems and devise/design strategies to formulate solutions
- Identify automation opportunities and automate all aspects of build, release, testing, continuous integration and deployment

Bromcom has come some way since Founder Ali Guryen developed a wireless school attendance recording system in the early 1980s – then hailed as revolutionary. Nowadays, the company offers schools and multi-academy trusts (MATs) a range of cloud-based software solutions for attendance and assessment tracking, data management, finance, and budgeting.
While it would be presumptuous to label the company the leader in its field, its claim that 70% of the UK’s secondary schools use Bromcom for their cloud MIS is a serious indication of its position. Its landmark deal to supply its software to over 200 maintained schools in West Sussex is also testament to the company's scope.
The public sector – from which the majority of Bromcom’s customer base comes – has often been criticised for its slow digital transformation. However, the education sector has recently accelerated its migration to the cloud, which is good news for Bromcom which has been championing (and perhaps banking on) this move for a while.
