Who you are

6+ years of professional software engineering experience, with at least 2 years in a senior or lead capacity
Full-stack experience, with proficiency in both backend development (PHP, Go, Node.js, or similar) and frontend frameworks (React, Angular, or Vue)
Deep understanding of databases (SQL/NoSQL), distributed systems, and API design
Strong problem-solving skills with a focus on clean, maintainable, and testable code
Excellent communication and collaboration skills

What the job involves

We are looking for a Senior Software Engineer II to join Kargo’s Workflow team
This team owns the tools and platforms that power the internal workflows across Kargo, with a strong focus on Campaign Management
This role goes beyond just coding—you’ll be driving technical strategy, mentoring engineers, and ensuring our internal applications are scalable, reliable, and intuitive
As a full-stack engineer, you’ll contribute across backend services, APIs, and user-facing applications, ensuring seamless end-to-end delivery of features that support Kargo’s internal teams
Design & Development: Architect, build, and maintain scalable web applications and APIs that power Kargo’s Workflow applications, especially Campaign Management
Full-Stack Contribution: Work across the stack — from database and backend services to frontend user interfaces — to deliver complete solutions
Collaboration: Partner with Product, Design, and Ad Operations teams to understand requirements and translate them into technical solutions
System Reliability: Ensure high availability, performance, and security of internal platforms
Technical Leadership: Provide mentorship, conduct code reviews, and set best practices for engineering excellence
Continuous Improvement: Drive improvements in developer productivity, system observability, and automation
AdTech Domain Impact: Leverage industry knowledge to design features that integrate seamlessly with Kargo’s ad-serving ecosystem

Our take

The way in which advertisers reach out to their audiences has changed dramatically over the last decade, primarily due to the invention of the smartphone. Whilst mobile ads have existed since the beginning of smartphones, most rely on technology that was built for desktops, resulting in bad advertising and missed opportunities.

Kargo provides a mobile advertising platform for marketers and publishers, helping them to deliver better business outcomes by leveraging advertising technology designed specifically for mobile. The company achieves this by directly integrating optimized impressions from the best-performing publishers within its specialized supply, using tangible identity metrics to analyze and improve advertiser KPIs, and overall facilitating personalized and mobile-optimized advertising.

The company acquired Videobyte (a video advertising platform for Connected TV) in early 2023 to expand operations into the relatively young digital TV industry and its lucrative TV formats. Bringing video, publisher tools, and unique formats to Kargo's omnichannel, this acquisition indicates a diversification of mediums for the advertising provider, who already has a firm grip on both mobile and desktop advertising platforms.
