Who you are
- 6+ years of experience as an Executive Assistant, Administrative Business Partner, or similar role; ideally with both small and large scale technology companies
- Excellent at building relationships and working effectively with a variety of cross-functional partners
- The ability to organize, analyze, and prioritize executive workflows, often using and interpreting data
- Exceptional written and verbal communication skills
- Advanced proficiency with Google Suite, including Google Calendar, Docs, Sheets, Forms, and Slides

- Our Executive Assistants are strategic partners - from calendaring and booking travel, to reporting processes and providing team support, you will participate in a variety of efforts to support Block’s programs.
- You will join the Executive Operations Team, supporting team(s) focused on the Talent discipline.
- We are looking for a natural leader who has a passion for solving problems, enjoys taking on new tasks and projects, who’s unflappable under pressure, and who executes at a high level with integrity in this energetic and human-centric environment
- Provide a wide range of strategic to administrative support for 1-2 executives
- Proactively manage the executives’ calendar, travel bookings, expenses, and other administrative tasks
- Ensure executive preparation and effectiveness by attending meetings as needed, taking notes, and being an active participant in team meetings and a knowledgeable resource on the organization/topic at hand
- Provide administrative and strategic support to our Talent team(s) as needed. Responsibilities include maintaining complex calendars, requiring coordination with executives, partners, and other members of the Executive Operations Team
- Find new and efficient ways to create work processes to help maximize your executives' time, including weekly and quarterly reporting, goal-tracking, and team meetings
- Prioritize, identify gaps, and take ownership of projects; help compile and prepare material and agendas for team meetings, such as all-hands presentations and events
- Work within our centralized Executive Operations team to provide support, mentorship, and guidance to enhance the team as a whole
Our take
Block is a financial services technology company comprising of Square, Cash App, Spiral, TIDAL, and TBD. Its biggest brand, Square, offers hardware and software for small to medium-sized businesses enabling them to manage the entire payment lifecycle. It functions similarly to Shopify and Stripe, but has paired online payment processing with physical devices such as registers, payment terminals, and mobile card readers.
The business was originally founded as Square in 2009 by Jack Dorsey of Twitter fame. Already well-established with SMEs all over the globe, Square has significantly benefited from the increased demand for mobile payment systems. Its order management feature remains a go-to tool for small businesses that otherwise didn't have the proper infrastructure in place when demand for home delivery surged.
Square rebranded as Block in December 2021, with the Square brand name remaining in place for their seller business. The company has since come under fire for its security practices, facing lawsuits in relation to a major breach of CashApp user data, and in 2024 announced plans to reduce its workforce in order to cut costs. Despite these setbacks, there is every chance the business will move past this, though it may take some time to rebuild trust in its product.
