- Deep expertise building and maintaining complex commercial products
- 10+ years of relevant product engineering experience or equivalent

What the job involves
- Zyte is building high-performance, globally scalable data platforms that will support our current and future growth in a highly innovative environment
- The role of Head of Engineering (Platform) will lead the engineering teams responsible for our marketing tech stack, self-service eCommerce purchasing, billing & fintech portfolio, stats & usage APIs, and our central app.zyte.com and ScrapyCloud platforms
- This role also takes responsibility for Product QA teams who matrix across all our technology products
- The leader of this group will be responsible for two key areas of the Zyte data discovery and collection platform. Firstly, we’re pioneering a whole new Zyte AI Experience to help our customers find and collect the web data they need to power their business strategies
- This leader will play a key role in driving the tech vision for Zyte’s UI and UX experiences for discovering data and self-service B2B buying
- Secondly, our ScrapyCloud platform is central to our recently released AI Scraping capabilities
- This engineering leader will play a critical role in defining the direction and leading the build teams for our core jobs orchestration, workflow and sequencing tech along with our associated HubStorage platform
- You will be at the intersection of engineering, innovation, and product management. You will be deeply experienced in at least two, passionate about all three, and conversant with stakeholders in all
- Lead the technical vision, strategy, and design for all these product areas
- Take responsibility for the technical direction, priorities, and overall quality of the tech stacks in this area
- Manage all staff / teams by recruiting, training and coaching employees, communicating job expectations and appraising their performance
- Collaborate with all relevant stakeholders to influence the product roadmap
- Lead the creation and execution of the technical roadmap aligned to the business goals / product vision
- Foster a Team-of-Teams culture
- Maintain and drive a portfolio of Research & Innovation projects including the embedding of GenAI / LLM capabilities across our platform
- Take responsibility for support, maintenance and operations including incident response
- Represent difficult trade-off decisions and solutions clearly to senior leaders to help them understand decisions and available options
- Leverage your technical knowledge to drive technical trade-off decisions across your teams and other teams in the wider organisation
- Collaborate, dive deep, and go hands-on with our engineering teams during architecture & design, build, and launch phases
- Be a key partner for our Product, Commercial, and other Business teams
- Identify opportunities for process optimization and automation across the Platform
- Contribute as part of the technology leadership team and collaborate with colleagues building out Zyte’s wider technology product portfolio

However, the necessary process of data scraping can be complicated to set up and depends on high-spec infrastructure and proxies, ultimately making data less accessible and more resource-intensive.
Zyte, formerly ScrapingHub, provides a data scraping platform for businesses, offering users data extraction services for any project size, whilst also automatically handling infrastructure and proxies. The platform's services are priced differently depending on the complexity of data types, helping to provide a fairer pricing system that smaller businesses can afford.
While data scraping services are nothing new, Zyte has recognised that existing solutions generally still require manual proxy configuration, which stunts data scraping workflows. Through its automated proxy system and “pay for what you use” approach to data complexity, the company shows great promise to disrupt the data scraping market with its uniquely accessible and easy-to-use platform.
