Who you are
- This role is best suited for someone who thrives on hands-on coding (front-end + back-end) but can also leverage no-code tools efficiently when appropriate
- Proven experience developing websites using WordPress
- Experience with WordPress themes and plugins, including custom development and troubleshooting
- Solid knowledge of HTML, CSS, JavaScript, and PHP, MySQL, and Git
- Strong understanding of responsive web design and mobile-first principles
- Attention to detail and a commitment to delivering high-quality, well-tested websites
- Strong problem-solving skills and ability to troubleshoot issues effectively
What the job involves
- We’re looking for a skilled and creative WordPress Developer to join our team and help build high-performing, user-friendly websites for independent retailers in the flooring and home improvement space
- You’ll play a key role in transforming older sites into modern, scalable platforms that elevate our retailers’ brands
- The ideal candidate has experience managing enterprise-level WordPress networks, developing secure custom plugins and blocks, and collaborating closely with designers to bring beautiful and functional websites to life
- About our Stacks:
- Design: Figma (design & prototyping)
- Engineering: WordPress, PHP, HTML, CSS, JavaScript, MySQL, Git
- Custom Development: In this role you'll design and build secure custom plugins, blocks, and other unique WordPress elements to deliver tailored client solutions
- Build & Customize Websites: Develop responsive, accessible, and mobile-first websites using WordPress, with an emphasis on enterprise scalability and performance
- Maintain & Optimize: Regularly update WordPress core, themes, and plugins; implement caching and database optimization strategies; and proactively address performance issues
- Security First: Write code following best practices for data sanitization, validation, escaping, and nonce use; ensure all custom code is secure against common vulnerabilities (SQL injection, XSS, CSRF)
- DevOps & Deployment: Work with CI/CD pipelines, Git workflows, and staging environments
- Design Collaboration: Translate Figma designs into pixel-perfect WordPress builds, ensuring strong design fidelity, accessibility (WCAG/ADA), and cross-browser compatibility
- Troubleshoot & Support: Identify and resolve bugs quickly, conduct regular audits for security and performance, and ensure websites remain future-proof against WordPress core updates
- Balanced Approach: Leverage no-code/low-code tools where efficient, while maintaining a strong custom development foundation

Our take
Leap Tools is an AR visualization platform that helps retail customers visualize the products they want to buy within their own homes. Using augmented reality, it purports to increase eCommerce conversion rates by five times and increase web transactions by 10%.
Through its visualization app Roomvo, Leap Tools is able to show what products - mainly homeware and furniture - will look like alongside people's other possessions. The idea is to turn potential customers to real customers because they don't have to rely on their imagination.
This simple solution solves a leading problem in eCommerce at a time when the majority of all shopping journeys begin, if not end, online. Leap Tools made its way onto Deloitte’s Fast 500 and Fast 50 for Canada in 2022, indicating a real interest in the product visualization software.
