Role
Who you are
- You know SQL perfectly. If you have experience with DBT & Airflow, it would be great
- If you have experience in Retail, it would be an ideal bonus
- You know that the devil is in the details and you enjoy looking for and fixing those small errors that can create inconsistencies
- You enjoy working in a cross-functional team and exchanging with different stakeholders to understand their needs and build the best possible outcome
What the job involves
- Too Good To Go is looking for a new Data Engineer for the Data & Reco team
- The team is currently composed of two Data Engineers and two Machine Learning Engineers, and works in collaboration with a Product Manager
- The mission of data engineers is to fuel the Platform products and operations with high quality data that are collected from the platform app, retailers and external sources
- Ingest retailers’ data
- Ingest app data
- Fuel the app with cleaned data
- Expose aggregated data for Machine Learning Engineers
- Build KPI
- Fuel ops teams with reliable data for deep analysis
- Build and maintain our data infrastructure
- Propose ideas to build the best long-term product
- Maintain the security of the stack (CVE, dependencies upgrades)
- You will act as a problem-solver and owner, always keeping in mind the bigger picture
- Simplify things and break down what looks hard into smaller digestible pieces
- Give feedback
- Our data stack consists of Airflow (Python), DBT Core (SQL), Snowflake and Metaflow

Our take
With more than one-third of food wasted in shops and restaurants, tonnes of otherwise quality goods are unnecessarily lost. Too Good To Go connects customers to restaurants and stores that have unsold, surplus food, offering steep discounts. Through this, businesses can sell surplus meals that would've otherwise gone to waste, and the environment wins as no food is wasted.
The company has certainly found its niche with sustainability-conscious consumers (a group that is growing in size as environmentally-focused consumers get more spending power). Too Good To Go's app has over 90M users across 18 countries and 215,000+ partners including retailers, hotels and restaurants such as ALDI, Carrefour, Accor and YO! Sushi.
The company is also creating a food waste movement website intended to be an informative source of knowledge regarding the issue. This is part of a wider strategy at raising awareness of the food waste problem, to get more users on board and further help the planet.
