Who you are
- 12+ years of related accounting experience at a high-growth pre-IPO startup; SaaS experience a strong plus
- Expert technical knowledge of US GAAP and technical accounting
- Demonstrate strong project management and ability to identify, analyze, offer solutions and execute solutions to tax problems
- Experience evolving processes, controls and systems to support a growth stage company
- Excellent written and oral communication skills to effectively interact with Executive management and cross-functional teams; ability to explain complex or technical financial subjects to a non-technical audience

What the job involves
- Front is seeking a Controller who will lead the company’s core accounting functions
- We are looking for someone to solve complex problems across diverse subject areas including financial reporting and accounting operations
- The Controller will collaborate closely with our leadership team to support our strategic financial goals, and enjoys working in a fast-growing start-up environment
- Oversee the timely preparation and review of financial statements in compliance with US GAAP reporting standards
- Manage the day-to-day financial operations of the company, including accounts payable, accounts receivable, payroll, taxes and financial reporting
- Interpret, develop, implement, and monitor all accounting policies, processes, and procedures. Advise on accounting-related matters
- Manage relationships with external stakeholders, including banks, auditors, and tax authorities
- Work cross functionally to provide accounting guidance. Partner closely with the People and Legal teams on human resources and employment-related matters
- Hire, lead and develop a high-performance, high-integrity accounting operations team
Our take
When a business receives an email from a customer it can set off a chain of forwarded emails across the company, an inefficient process where information (and sales!) can easily get lost. Front exists to change this, consolidating all customer communications into a single shared inbox which can be accessed by teams of any size and completely eliminates the need for internal emails.
With more companies moving to remote working and eCommerce becoming the predominant form of conducting business, Front's product has been enthusiastically received by over 8,000 companies, including Mailchimp, Shopitfy and Convoy. However it is by no means alone in this space, with huge competitors such as Google and Microsoft providing communications solutions and other internal communications tools such as Slack gaining traction. Front may have an edge here though: its unified solution also provides automated workflows, ticketing and analytical tools that are either absent or less well integrated in competing offerings.
In 2022, Front raised investments in a Series D round and achieved unicorn status with a valuation of over $1 billion. It is moving to futher develop its product and increase its market share, hiring on new talent ahead of a possible IPO in the near future. Definitely watch this space!
