Expertise with Data Engineering tools and tools such as Snowflake, DBT, Liquibase, Fivetran, and Airflow
Experience with SQL and Python

What the job involves

We are looking for a Data Engineer with some experience but high potential to join our small but highly efficient team
As a member of the team you will have the opportunity to work on critical projects that directly impact Cedar’s revenue and cash flows
Your first project will be to work on modernizing our Client Billing Pipeline. In the future you will have the opportunity to support our efforts to adopt DBT as a standard data transformation tool at Cedar and implement new patterns to improve data quality such as data testing and data contracts
Architect and implement a new client billing pipeline that accurately generates monthly invoices without requiring significant manual adjustments
Help Cedar adopt Data Engineering best practices such as data testing and data contracts using dbt
Augment Cedar’s data ecosystem with external data sets so that we can make quicker, more informed decisions
Facilitate and mediate design discussions involving stakeholders and users such as Commercial Analytics, Data Science, and Value Engineering
Take a leadership role in multiple simultaneous high-impact projects
Communicate clearly in verbal and written forms, from peer training to technical documentation and project proposals
Help us grow the company, culture, and our products

Our take

Over $1B is said to be lost annually by physicians as a result of inefficient and disjointed healthcare billing practices. The subsequently low patient satisfaction rates lead to poorer care, and real losses for providers who see patients switching away from their plans.

Cedar looks to remedy these issues with a selection of consumer-facing services which streamline billing, insurance and healthcare processes. Healthcare billing concerns a huge percentage of US adults, so optimizing patient satisfaction is of increasing concern - a great opportunity for the company.

After acquiring competing patient finance streamlining service OODA Health in 2021, Cedar netted substantial funds and launched its Payer Intelligence Layer. This has allowed it to integrate data from insurers and providers to create a single source of information. The company was also endorsed by the Montana Hospital Association's shared services division, to be listed as its only preferred patient financial engagement technology.
