Role
Who you are
- 8+ years of experience in machine learning, statistical modeling, and data analytics, strongly focusing on digital advertising
- Experience applying data science in ad tech, programmatic advertising, and the broader digital media ecosystem
- Technical proficiency:
- Proficiency in Python programming
- Deep learning frameworks (TensorFlow, PyTorch, Keras)
- Cloud Computing platforms (AWS, GCP)
- MLOps Frameworks (Kubeflow, MLFlow)
- Demonstrated experience in developing and deploying machine learning models to solve business problems, particularly in the context of programmatic advertising or digital marketing
- Comfort to collaborate with software engineers to understand complex systems and abstracted logs
- Strong communication and leadership abilities, with a track record of mentoring and developing data science talent
- Bachelor’s degree in Statistics, Data Science, Mathematics, or a related field
What the job involves
- The Principal of Data Science will lead and scale data science, driving ad targeting, bidding strategies, and audience-building innovation.
- The primary focus will be leveraging data to create predictive models and algorithms that enhance ad personalization while maintaining user privacy.
- This role requires deep machine learning and data analytics expertise to optimize Sovrn’s programmatic advertising capabilities.
- Collaboration with product, engineering, and commercial teams will be essential to ensure data-driven strategies align with business objectives
- Technical Modeling. Develop and implement predictive models and algorithms to optimize ad targeting and bidding strategies. Leverage machine learning and statistical modeling to build audience segments, ensuring personalized ad experiences. Ensure user privacy remains a top priority while developing advanced personalization techniques
- Technical Leadership. Stay informed on emerging trends in machine learning, digital advertising, and data privacy regulations. Contribute to the overall data strategy to drive innovation in the digital media ecosystem. Provide strategic insights and recommendations based on deep ad tech and programmatic data analysis
- Collaboration: Collaborate with engineering and product teams to integrate data science models into production systems. Guide and mentor Data Scientists, fostering a culture of innovation and learning within the team
Our take
The monetization of online content creation can be very lucrative but requires time, resources and expertise outside of writing. Passionate writers who focus on storytelling and creating inspiring content may waste valuable time attempting to develop their business, and hiring somebody to do this is often too expensive for independent writers.
Sovrn tackles this in a smart way by providing writers with simple-to-use tools that take the stress out of monetization. It works with publishers and advertisers to provide opportunities to passionate writers, allowing them to focus on excelling at their job rather than dealing with distribution, monetization and operations - all of which Sovrn is able to handle.
The startup claims to be able to drive higher revenues and scale a publishing business, at the same time as allowing writers to focus on what they do best. It has seen significant investment that will enable it to pursue acquisitions and support the further expansion of its platform with more capabilities to be added in the future.
