- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, or a related field
- 5+ years of professional experience in developing wireless communication solutions for robotics products
- Hands-on experience with embedded OSs for networking equipment (OpenWRT, LEDE).Proficient in WiFi standards (802.11n/ac/ax/be and 802.11r/s/k/v)
- Extensive experience in Linux kernel and kernel module development
- Strong knowledge of wireless mesh technologies and routing algorithms
- Expertise in techniques to improve transmission reliability, such as bonding
- Proficient in C and/or C++, as well as Python
- Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to work independently
- Excellent communication and teamwork skills
- Ability to work in a fast-paced and dynamic environment
- Detail-oriented with strong organizational skills
Desirable
- Knowledge of wireless backhaul solutions
- Experience in indoor and outdoor site RF evaluation, simulation, and planning
- Experience deploying Private LTE/5G, CBRS, or 900MHz wireless solutions at large-scale sites
- Experience with Software-Defined Radio (SDR) platforms
- Experience obtaining FCC certification (or equivalent) for new radio products
- Knowledge of video streaming frameworks and solutions
- Experience with middleware frameworks such as ROS1 and ROS2
What the job involves
- As a Wireless Networking Robotics Engineer at Teleo, you will lead the development and deployment of state-of-the-art wireless communication technologies, ensuring Teleo’s heavy machinery fleet operates flawlessly in diverse environments and conditions
- From rapid evaluation to rigorous production deployment in the field, your work will directly contribute to the success of Teleo’s Supervised Autonomy product
- You will collaborate closely with hardware and software teams within Teleo to integrate robust communication solutions, driving reliability and uptime to new heights
- Additionally, you will work with deployment teams, both domestically and internationally, to expand Teleo’s footprint and bring our groundbreaking solutions to new markets
- This role requires the ability to travel a minimum of 25% to construction sites at customer locations
- Design and develop wireless communication solutions for robotics products, operating over larger job sites
- Work with embedded OSs for networking equipment, to better integrate with the Teleo Software stack
- Design and implement wireless mesh technologies and routing algorithms
- Enhance transmission reliability, using techniques such as bonding and link aggregation
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to integrate wireless solutions into products
Our take
Operating a massive piece of heavy equipment like a bullddozer for 8-10 hours a day is a challenging job. It's tiring, unsafe and requires a great deal of synchronisation with other workers and vehicles on the job. Teleo is lightening this burden for construction teams with remote and autonomous control of heavy equipment.
The startup has pursued a pragmatic “crawl-walk-run” approach to deliver the benefits of supervised autonomy now. Instead of having each machine in a fleet operated by a driver in a cab, they’re all being controlled remotely by a single human operator miles away from the job site.
The hope is that the technology matures toward fully autonomous heavy equipment operation. Like any new, next-generation technology, it can take some getting used to. However construction workers are simply adapting to robots on site as a another tool to get the job done, putting Teleo in a strong position as it sets out to disrupt the construction industry.
