Role
Who you are
- Minimum of 7+ years of relevant experience as a Backend Engineer
- Bachelor's or Master's degree in Computer Science or a related field
- Comprehensive knowledge developing APIs with Ruby on Rails
- Working knowledge of PostgreSQL
- Comprehensive knowledge of testing tools based on behavior-driven development such as RSpec
- Comprehensive knowledge of design patterns and development best practices
- Comprehensive knowledge of object-oriented design, data structures, algorithms and problem solving
- Thorough knowledge of tools such as Redis, Memcached, Sidekiq
- Thorough knowledge of RESTful services and microservices
- Thorough knowledge of Git and other contemporary development technologies
- Experience with database design and management
- Experience with cloud-based infrastructure (specifically AWS; GCP and Azure a plus)
- Experience working with a software management system (JIRA is preferred)
- Ability to write efficient, secure, well-documented and clean code
- Strong problem-solving and critical-thinking abilities
- Excellent communication skills that facilitate interaction with multiple stakeholders
- You are confident, detail-oriented, and highly motivated to contribute to Storyblok’s growth as part of a high-performing team
What the job involves
- We are seeking a talented and passionate 'Senior Backend Engineer' to join our growing Product Engineering team at Storyblok
- In this role, you will be instrumental in designing, developing, and maintaining our flagship CMS platform, enabling businesses to create and deliver seamless digital content experiences
- You will work closely with product owners, designers, and fellow developers to implement scalable server-side solutions, ensuring high performance and reliability
- If you have a strong background in backend development, expertise in Ruby on Rails, and a passion for solving complex technical challenges, we’d love to hear from you
- Drive the next generation of Storyblok’s customer-facing products and features by building scalable and reliable backend systems with Ruby on Rails
- Contribute to improved performance of our APIs and optimize queries with Postgres
- Implement automated testing integrated into our development and maintenance workflows
- Test, optimize and update our application for security, performance and reliability on a continuous basis
- Develop a thorough knowledge of our code base and domain, proactively share knowledge with colleagues and contribute to documentation
- Help rapidly fix bugs and solve problems for our customers
- Work closely with our leadership as well as with product owners, designers and other business stakeholders to understand business requirements and translate them into technical solutions
- Actively participate in code reviews and help with mentoring of more junior engineers in an open, respectful and emphatic manner
- Act as a strong team player, helping teammates overcome obstacles, resolve blockers and complete work tasks
Our take
A headless content management system (CMS) consists of a back-end that stores the content and a decoupled front-end display. This lets the content be streamed to any platform including apps, wearable devices or digital displays via an API. Compared to the other headless CMS solutions, Storyblok’s CMS provides highly customisable content blocks and visual editing tools. This gives developers the flexibility to build fast and reliable digital platforms. It is the first headless CMS to integrate such features into a modern headless architecture.
The company counts Pizza Hut, Adidas, UPC, Greggs and Decathlon amongst clients, alongside many thousands of solo developers that use their CMS. These are powering more than 74,000 projects across 130 countries.
Storyblok intends to use its new funding to expand its presence in the USA after its previous round accelerated expansion in key European markets including Germany and Ireland.
