Who you are

- Current 2L or 3L from an ABA accredited law school
- Demonstrated interest through coursework in renewable energy, real estate or environmental law
- Ability to think creatively to help streamline operations and collaborate with members of the legal team
- Ability to maintain multiple streams of work in an organized and efficient manner
- Strong writing, research, and communication skills

What the job involves
- BlueWave has a Fall 2024 opening for a Co-op on our Legal Team, the successful candidate will be an important member of a 5-person legal team
- As a BlueWave Legal Co-op, you will assist with a broad range of general corporate matters and support real estate development activities for a portfolio of commercial photovoltaic solar and battery energy storage projects
- You will engage in matters involving leases, lease options, and easements and be responsible for entity formation and maintenance, reviewing title reports and surveys and contract management
- The successful candidate will be driven to support numerous internal clients, with a focus on resolving obstacles to solar development
- Manage entity formation and qualification for BlueWave entities including corporate and special purpose project vehicles
- Provide support on commercial transactions and closings
- Support corporate governance efforts, including drafting operating agreements and consents, and assisting with corporate policies and procedures
- Support real estate matters, including leases, lease options, easements, and title issues
- Answer research questions and draft memorandums to support internal counsel
- Provide support on new business opportunities, reporting, and compliance matters
- Track assignments and communicate progress to teams, with a focus toward quickly resolving any issues and obstacles
- Ongoing job-related duties as assigned
Our take
The coexistence of agriculture and solar energy projects has been a longstanding issue, as both require extensive land use. Historically, this has led to conflicts over land resources and, as demand for clean energy grows, finding solutions to optimize land use for both agricultural and solar purposes becomes imperative to prevent environmental and economic trade-offs.
In response to this challenge, BlueWave has emerged, leveraging agrovoltaic projects to harmonize agricultural activities with solar energy generation. By placing solar panels above agricultural land, the company not only generates clean energy but also preserves the viability of the same farmland for grazing and crops.
This approach not only mitigates land-use conflicts but also sets a precedent for responsible resource management in the renewable energy sector. BlueWave has secured substantial funding, exemplifying its commitment to long-term success and scalability. With the support of its parent company, Axium Infrastructure, it is well-positioned to implement and expand its agrovoltaic projects.
